The Value of Networking to Different AARC Discussion Specialty Sections

By Michael Nibert posted 06-24-2010 15:01

Hello AARC friends,
You may have noticed that I have posted the same discussion two or more times. The only way to submit a discussion to more than one group is to duplicate the message to a different specialty section. The Help line, to my knowledge, is viewed by all if subscribed so even though I was a beta tester for AARConnect, I am still learning just like you. I want to commend the AARC and especially Sherry Milligan for this new networking avenue as I personally believe it has more diversity that stops some of the "me too" responses. I hope that others will respond to their perception of this new social/professional networking site now that we have been live for several weeks. (-:

I totally agree - thereby becoming a "me too" poster. Yet I think it is important in the early times of the use of this new tool that we be as encouraging as possible to folks who are new to this system, and especially those who are new to networking or emailing on a professional group like AARC. Not all the tools we WILL have are rolled out yet. This represents a big change from the plain vanilla listserv medium we had previusly used. There are some new things to learn. But all in all it will provide us with a great deal more flexibility in how we can communicate with each other, and it's WORTH the time taken making mistakes and climbing the learning curve. Everybody just needs to keep on. And, please - go to your profile, complete it as much as you can. And reach out and touch folks - add them as contacts, send them messages, and explore the possibilities for interconnections.
