Why invite someone to be a AARConnect contact?

By Michael Nibert posted 05-25-2010 00:50

AARConnect is a social network for AARC members only. It’s a social network—but we’ll use it for professional business. Through AARConnect you can:

  • Interact with AARC members around the world.
  • Learn more about the friends you already know by making them “contacts.” (Kind of like friends on Facebook.)
  • Find old friends—search by college, city, job setting, name. A robust search feature lets you keep in touch
  • Conduct committee business with committee members in a secure environment. If you’re on a committee or in a Section or join a Roundtable, you’ll find your fellow participants

You control it all. You control how much information others see about you, how you want your emails delivered and how often and what communities you want to belong to.

Hello AARC friends.
The above are excerpts from the Help Page on the Home Page "Start Here". I have been asked why I am inviting someone to be my contact. While the above statement " You control it all" is correct, I would like to add my reasons to the exceptional ones listed above.

  * Make new professional friends- All is not learned in a classroom or your work experiences
  * Patient advocacy- The networking allows the potential for better patient outcomes
  * Mentoring Students, New Grads, and Short Tenured RCP's-  We have an opportunity to ensure the
youth of this profession carry on the mission, vision, and values of our profession. We are being watched.
  * Help at least one colleague every day - you will be rewarded a hundred fold

I would like to encourage you to add to this Blog in your own way.
