Leaders everywhere are getting out of their comfort zones and leading services they have not been formally trained. Many of my fellow Sentara Leaders are taking on different areas! Just read the depts listed in email signatures.

After last year's ER experience I say BRAVO! This is very good it makes us REALLY see our peers world from the inside out. We finally are WALKING in EACH OTHERS SHOES! What a GREAT Opportunity as we experience the Health Care Revolution. This will "Hardwire"the need to learn and grow from great team mates!

Recently two of our directors were promoted one to CNE the other to CEO both in different factilaities, both well deserved! We all knew Surprise Surprise Round #2 was on the Horizon.  So now I am Director of Pulmonary Services with  the addtion of Chaplain Services and Interim Director of Peri-Op Services.

Chaplain Services has already connected as we "Mature" allowing families to be a part of Code Blue and Rat calls with a CHAPLIAN present to support familes so our attention is on their family member who is coding. I have already witnessed the power of this addtion! More to follow on this and how Chaplians help with Advance Directives.

I finised week 1 of Peri Op services ....I was very blessed to have a three week orientation. I knew this was real thursday (Day #3) afternoon when March Productivity reports were published. My VP/CNE called on my mobile phone..."Hello Interim Director of Peri-OP Services what happened in March?" By the way -Easter Bunny wasn't the right answer!. I said we are on it ..will send you email with answer very soon....remember it snowed we lost three days of surgies, yet staff stay over just in case? Remember how impressed we were they slept here? We also had Skills Days, BLS for a lot of folks. Quickly the Peri-Op and Moderate Sedation Manager helped me understand more of the details.

I have been very impressed with the welcome from the Peri-Op Team! So my friends welcome these new opprtunties, ASK for them! By nature RTs move around the ENTIRE Hospital, we are flexiable and LOVE to successed when challenged!
