In case you didn't see it on Facebook, I wanted to share some wonderful news.  (IF you're not on Facebook, like us Missouri Society for Respiratory Care.  You can also join us on Twitter @mo_src)

The management section is pleased to present its 2013 Specialty Practitioner of the Year award to Dana Evans, MHA, RRT-NPS. Dana is receiving the award at AARC Congress 2013 in Anaheim....
Dana is an exemplary manager who continually looks for opportunities to provide her therapists at Mercy Children’s Hospital-St. Louis with the critical knowledge and tools they need to deliver quality respiratory care. She demonstrates her leadership commitment through her active participation with the Missouri Society for Respiratory Care (MSRC) as well as the AARC.
Dana has been a member of the AARC since 1999. She serves as a Missouri delegate to the AARC House of Delegates and is a member of the Ad Hoc Committee on Student Mentorship. She is also serving on the Scrutinizing Committee. Dana has lectured extensively at MSRC conferences for many years and recently began presenting at the national level at AARC Congress 2012 in New Orleans. She also presented an AARC webcast on pediatric NIV in May of this year and has published articles in Pediatric Transport and Emerging Infectious Diseases. She was a contributing editor for the latest Oakes Pocket Guide to Neonatal/Pediatric Respiratory Care and she also reviews clinical articles for AARC Times.
Dana shares her leadership skills as a member of the MSRC board of directors. She has served in a variety of capacities at the district and state level throughout the years and is the state society’s outgoing vice president. For the past six years she has served as chair of the Planning Committee for the annual state meeting and educational conference, a task that involves the organization of three days of educational and recreational activities, including two days of exhibitors.
Dana is fulfilling respiratory health leadership roles within her community as well. She is an advisory board member for the University of Missouri respiratory care program, providing oversight at a satellite location for the bachelor’s program. In addition, she implemented the American Lung Association’s Open Airways for Schools program in a local elementary school and developed an asthma algorithm for use in a clinical decision support system for the University of Missouri department of family and community medicine.
In her position as respiratory care manager, Dana takes an active role in determining the future direction of her health care system. Her membership on a system-wide committee representing 32 hospitals contributed to the implementation of care pathways for asthma coordination. She also served as a member of the eNICU/ePICU development team.
Dana is generous with her time and talent and serves as a wonderful example of a leadership role model and mentor for our profession. She exemplifies one of the best the AARC has to offer.
