PPUSA Challenges in KCMO School District

Implementing a district wide program to help asthmatic children using volunteer RT support would never be easy, but this year there have been some unique challenges getting in the way. The urban KCMO school district has been undergoing major reconstruction; about half of the schools are closing.

This has been attributed by and also is contributing to major shifts in leadership from the superintendent level to the principal level at every school in the district. Amongst all of the dissarray, the RTs at St. Luke's Hospital continue to wait patiently to offer their services to the district. Some of the efforts are currently being redirected to the development of a DVD that can be used by nurses district-wide, while volunteer RTs would have a difficult time reaching all pertinent audiences. The DVD will allow quality education to be given to every child that can benefit from asthma education.
We look forward to reconnecting with the district upon completion of the educational DVD
