License for BRPT

I currently reside in NJ.  I am an RRT and RPSGT.  In February of this year sleep technologist are required to obtain a license.  I am aware that the scope of practice also is covered under the respiratory license.  Is anyone facing this dilemma?  In this economy today $600 dollars is alot of money to shell out in addition to what we pay for our respiratory license.

Nicole,
I may be mistaken but it appears as if polysomnography has been separated from respiratory care in NJ. The NJ State Board of Respiratory Care specifically spells out scope of practice and polysomnography does not appear to be included. Refer to page 2 subchapter 3 of first listed document. If the scope of the RCP in NJ included polysomnography the RCP would be authorized to provide services under their RT license provided the RCP "did not present himself as a licensed polysomnographic technologist, licensed polysomnographic technician or licensed polysomnographic trainee which otherwise would require licensure by the board." Refer to page 4 45:14G-9 Licensure required for practice of polysomnography paragraph B (2) of second listed document.
