AARC RVU's in Epic

By Michelle Russell Payne posted 01-14-2020 15:32

We are looking at Legacy Health switching to using the Uniform Reporting Manual RVU's, from the AARC, in Epic. I am looking for someone who has automated this process to speak with. The idea is to have an automated count of how many times we did a RVU based procedure, in order to get a daily, weekly, and/or biweekly productivity. We thought we could pull the data from the flow sheet rows, for the number of procedures. Ideally we would want to create a table of RVU weights that are potentially located in a data warehouse and with a sequel report that can pull in our RVU's and number of our procedures done, to give us our productivity. Your help will be greatly appreciated. We may want to have your IS talk with our IS too. Again thanks! Michelle Russell-Payne RRT/NPS MBA Interim Director of Clinical and Support Services

Hi Michelle.

I touched on a similar topic so I am just going to cut and paste what I sent in that blog. Feel free to reach me for further questions.

This link should help guide and help create your bennch mark for your team. https://www.aarc.org/resources/tools-software/standards-development/
(need to give credit to person that laid out the format for our team, Paige Brown Kelly) I worked with with one of managers from the finance department to create our clinical activity time standards C.A.T.S. You have to make them understand it is not always about the dollar amount but the productivity your team actually produces in a 8 or 12 hour period. Unscheduled activities such as ventilator transports or code blue's, are charged as a statistical tracking or stat tracking. In our EMR, we have a charge tab built in the system that ties into CDM codes for every respiratory procedure and equipment. We run reports that show the productivity of the department every 2 weeks, and monthly. Please email me at joseph.bernardino@mymarinhealth if i can assist further.
