Renewing NBRC credentials

Hello AARC Friends,
I want to encourage each of you to help mentor colleagues as an ambassador for this profession concerning the NBRC CEP requirements http://www.nbrc.org/LinkClick.aspx?fileticket=3ZrWNjZ7F_U%3d&tabid=112 . You must keep a current address on file with the NBRC to get USPS mail notification reminders.  I encourage you to read all the AARConnect responses on the discussion thread "Renewing NBRC Credentials". I am amazed at the uninformed on this critical issue for credentialed Therapists that obtained a credential after July 1, 2002. I am aware of Therapists who have lost their credentials and their was a severance of employment which is so sad and totally avoidable. I have made a mission to educate my staff and in my networking circles of this requirement that seems to be a low hanging fruit and becomes emergent when the requirements are not met. Just like the vast majority of discussion responses, our facility requires active NBRC credentials in accordance with their job description, in addition to their state licensure. This is also easily confused by some Therapists as these are two separate regulatory and accreditation agencies with different renewal periods and requirements. I have asked our local RT programs to help educate students on this topic and I have included this topic in yearly evaluations with documentation of expiration dates. I know many of you are on board with this Blog but I felt compelled this morning to write this Blog that may help someone out there in Respiratory Care land. Happy Holidays!
