Where's the Science? Literature Review in building your case---

By Michael Nibert posted 09-03-2011 09:56

Literature search is very important in presentation of new services in present day Respiratory Care and also change of current practices to align with evidence based medicine or best practices. Many discussions or replies posted do not cite literature search, only opinions and experiences. While I feel opinions and experiences are certainly important in determining best practice, I challenge all of us to ask the question: Where's the Science? I have used the AARC's web page Respiratory Care Journal http://www.rcjournal.com/ as a starting point to do the literature search and use the Pub Med Link. How many of our membership belong to the Research Roundtable and actively review and engage in discussions? I believe we should instill these fundamental concepts as we teach to others in the health care arena.
