Reflection on Balancing Life on Mother's Day

Hello AARC friends,
I hope you are celebrating a wonderful Mother's day in each of your own ways. I am more than likely celebrating the last Mothers day with my Mom of 78 years unless a miracle happens. This leads me to reflect on the past, present, and the future. I feel it is very important to balance our personal and professional lives for mental well being and being happy with life. I struggle in this corporate world to maintain this focus as the demands of financial success in the health care industry are at an all time high in this climate of economic stress. I love the outdoors and have hunted and fished all my life and my wife and I travel and enjoy the things she loves to do. I am hoping this blog will generate some discussion as the younger folks need to learn from us to have a successful career while maintaining a healthy personal life. Thanks for allowing me a moment to reflect--------

I had a similar Mother's Day myself, except in my case it centered around an elderly friend who has become my "second mother" after my own mother died 20 years ago. I've learned that lesson too. I love my job, but the reason I have a job is for the benefit of my family. Sometimes it's hard to keep them in center focus, but we must.
