Using a Wye for Liquid Oxygen

By Merle Auspitz posted 07-30-2010 16:50

I have worked in Home care on and off over the past 30 years.  I am now currently working in home care again in Illinois.
We have found that this method of delivery was most effective when our patient had a higher demand for flow, as when using a re-breather mask, or Non re-breather for us slightly more senior folks!!!  It allows for adequate inflation of the reservoir and increased patient comfort, often reducing a patient's work of breathing.

We have drastically reduced mask therapy in our facility by using Salter HFNC. My undestanding is they have long lengths for home care usage, Improves patient comfort and allows conservative flowrates while correcting hypoxemia. Contact your Salter rep or go to http://www.salterlabs.com
