Drive for COPD - Missouri Society

By Mary Guy posted 06-17-2013 15:39

Have you heard of the DRIVE4COPD?  The campaign is designed to share with as many individuals as possible, information about COPD.  This year's intiative is Adopt-A-Company.  The goal for each state is to have at least 4 events in 2013, but we do not want to stop there.
I'd like to ask each of you to become involved.  Consider adopting a company, large or small, to share the message that COPD is an undiagnosised and is treatable. Help Missouri to be among the top of the country in spreading the word.

First step: Find out more about Drive4COPD

Second, contact Jason Moury at the AARC to obtain printed material to share the word at

Or me and I'll help you get materials

Third

  • Spread the word -  The quick 5 question paper survey are easy to use
  • It doesn't have to be an elaborate event - talk to the local pharmacist, the local schools, your hospital staff, your spouse's workplace.
  • Is your community having a fall festival, a parade, a picnic, a health fair?  Ask to be included.
  • Does your school or scout troop require a community service project?  Get your kids involved.

Last - let me know you've adopted-a-company, the date and how many participated.

Thanks to Diane Oldfather for getting our state started April 29, 2013 at teh Rolla, MO fairgrounds.  We have another event in Smithville, MO on June 29.

Please help add to our list.

Mary Lou,
We held our event on October 24th in conjunction with a community Open House. We provided PFT screenings, MDI Instruction, Alpha-1 testing, and the Drive4COPD was right out front! We were able to screen 52 people with the Drive4COPD screeners. Thanks for challenging everyone to take part.

Mary Lou, We hope to have one at MSSU in October. I've contacted Jason for a second time, so hopefully we will be getting that stuff together soon.
