thanks guys. Mike we are not there yet but who knows. from my point of view it will be very difficut to do because the volume of infomation that our students have to learn, some classes maybe but not all. so we will see. I think what help you Jerry was that you had a foundation from the Army already so your transistion might have been a little easier.

Herbert,
I hold a slightly different position than Michael on this topic. I did not go through the "typical" respiratory therapy program. I received my training from the United States Army. I went through 5 months of classroom respiratory training followed by 4 months of clinical training. I think that the key to success for the program is going to be the instructors ensuring that the educational experiences of students are adequate to prepare them to become respiratory care practitioners. The things that I learned in school provided a foundation of my skill set but did not completely prepare me for every situation I would encounter in the field. As a product of the military, I believe that adequate mentorship will ensure the future success of the students in a respiratory program, those practicing respiratory care, and the profession of respiratory care itself.

Hello Herbert,
I invited you as a contact just now. My initial thoughts were : WOW! Is this the only solution to controlling operational costs as well as increasing revenue? I think this would only dilute the educational experiences of the student and the payback might happen during credentialing test time and the first employment position. You have a tough road my friend and I wish you only the very best!
