would like to hear from educators who are willing to share their ideas, thoughts, policies on students' use of social media while enrolled in a Respiratory Therapy Program: patient , classmate privacy; respect of program & faculty integrity, etc.

In our program, we had to set limits as to how we as faculty would be involved with students on social media sites such as Facebook. We have made it policy that we do not "friend" anyone actively enrolled in the program. We have a Facebook page that we can update the students with and we don't have to be "friends" to do it.
In regards to the students using social media in the clinical site, many of our affiliates are very specific with their rules. The students are not to post anything that would violate patient privacy acts and definitely no pictures. I have told the students that they should not "check in" at the clinical sites either.
