barrier filters in line with calibration syringe

I've always placed the same barrier filter used for testing in line with the calibration syringe during the flow sensor calibration (or volumetric device).  when I checked the ATS standards I did not see this practice mentioned.  Does it make any appreciable difference?  Is it really unnecessary?

It will not change the volume of the syringe. As long as you are meeting the flow reccomendations of your device during the cal/verify there should be no problem with the resistance imposed by the filter. Our device requires a filter because there is no way to connect the syringe/hose to the pnuemotach without the filter.
