Fellow educators,
I would like to know the pros and cons of using passing AMP exit exams as graduation requirement. We are now under new department direction and are reconsidering using this criteria. we have a review course at the end of year 1, credits are earned from this course only if the student meets the national average on the CRT "exit" exam from AMP company. If they don't meet this requirement they are not allowed to move onto the next year. At the end of the 2nd year another review course is required. Both a WRE and CSE exit exams are taken and both must meet national average for the student to obtain credit for the course and therefore obtain their degree and graduate.we know that some schools use other graduation criteria.
we have numerous software programs in our computer lab that allows the student to practice throughout the semester. In addition, we meet weekly and review important concepts, testing strategies, etc. Some of our students also enroll in the Kettering Review course. We use James Sill's review book for both courses.
Any and all comments are welcomed.
Thank you!
