My first time.....

I knew the title would catch you, but it is about this being my first time at the AARC Board of Directors Meeting as a voting member of the Board.  One of the things we are trying to do is bring members into being more active in the running of their State and/or National Respiratory Organization.  My service to the Connecticut Society for Respiratory Care (CTSRC) started in the late 90s.  I worked my way up into the organization to the point where I represented our state in the House of Delegates on the national level.  This past winter I was elected to the AARC Board of Directors and will serve a three year term.  As time permits and without breaking any of the rules that govern being a member of the board, I hope to write about my experiences to hopefully encourage others to serve our profession in a leadership role on the state or national level.
Too many times we talk about not having time to do things like this, but in all seriousness, if someone doesn't do it, where will our profession end up?  We have one of the strongest Executive Offices that any profession has and we need to realize that our profession owes a great deal of gratitude to those men and women who work on our behalf in Irving Texas.  But remember, these men and women work on behalf of us, and we need people like you to step up and make a conscious effort to become leaders in the profession.
Well, at this point I must read up on the goings on for the board meeting tomorrow.  I don't want to be unpreparred for my first meeting.  I will try to post some information throughout the three days we are down here in Dallas.  Forgive me ahead of time if it isn't as timely as I hope it to be.  I'm new to this type of blogging, those of you who know me and are Facebook friends know that I update almost constantly there, but this is a new medium for me.
Keep up the good work you do for our patients and our profession.
Frank

Frank, the members of the AARC, and indeed the entire Respiratory Therapy profession, will be very well served by having you on the AARC Board. You are a credit to our profession and I wish you well as you begin your term on the BOD.

Frank, the Board and the members of the AARC will be admirably served by your energy and experience. You're no "rookie" even if you are a "newbie".
Thanks for your contributions.
