December 21st saw us hitting a milestone that of 1000 patients. Here it is January 10th and we are now at 1015 and are adding another 12 patients this week. And nope the patients continue not to be just acute as in colds and sore throats, but chronic conditions. We are making great strides in providing smoking cessation counseling. It amazes me that what we offer as part of our outpatient free medical clinic, we are getting more and more patients to stop smoking. That in itself is a huge help in saving health care dollars now and in the future - less smoking means that the outgo of dollars down the road is significantly less. We are saving the overall healthcare system many dollars.
Today, I was able to work with a patient. Was able to loan her a nebulizer, along with samples of albuterol soln, along with can you imagine this a holding chamber for her flovent!! She was taking her flovent without a spacer/holding chamber - now that is effective, especially when she has to pay hundreds of dollars for the flovent. It is so nice to insure people are using their meds correctly.
