Respect

I've noticed a certain level of entitlement throughout the medical community in general. Rts don't feel respected by nurses or physicians. The easy answer is respect is earned not given. Take a look at what you do every day. Medical advancements and change is occuring on an exponential level. When was the last time you spent a significant amount of time updating yourself? When was the last time you had an interesting study or piece of informarion to update a physician? When was the last time you spoke to a fellow coworker, not about your kids, but about your field, your profession? So many people coming into this professon and so many that are already there are demanding respect without reflecting on what have they REALLY contributed to deserve it. I'm not saying that everyone is in this boat. However, Those that I admire are definitely treated, as they should be, with the utmost of respect because they worked for it.

We are too good not to be better. Focusing on being better is a fun goal to have. In order to lead others and give generously, one must give to others their dignity. We must honor ourselves and others as human beings and not just human doers. Respect and love one another for all of our potential. And be generous in one’s view and in offering opportunity.
