Work units and time standards

By Gregory Rittenhouse posted 10-24-2018 09:24

We are in the process of moving away from our current time standard system. We have many non billable procedures that we assign and track, but it is an obsolete system, so are looking at ways to transition out of it, to just assigning billable procedures. This becomes difficult because, as we all know, very little of what we do is billable today. has anyone faced this challenge that would be willing to share your process? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I would be interested in knowing what is your current system of allocating work? We recently we changed from a point system to RVU based system assigning work using time standards for RT activities from the AARC Uniform Reporting Manual. We incorporated "buffer" time to account for unscheduled activities in ED, NICU, Code Blue, RRTs, and new starts spread across the staff assigned to the shift.

Gregory;
I think we all have faced similar challenges with time standards that are valid, inclusive of all that we do; include travel, documentation time, stand-by and set-up time, etc.  I hope you got recognition through the revision for your team like we managed to the last go-around at our facility.
