Charging for Conscious Sedation and Rapid Response

By Lisa Campbell posted 12-22-2015 18:47

Does anyone know how to charge/bill for conscious sedations done on patients receiving a Cardioversion or orthopedic procedure in the ED? Our department is trying to find a way to charge for the time spent at these procedures/events.

Thank you.

Do you know if there is more than one way to charge for EtCO2?  It can be used in-line with vents, for procedural events like conscious sedation or for patients on PCA pumps and didn't know if it could/should be a one-time charge, daily or whole visit charge or if it varied depending on the way it was used.  Is there specific information that must be included in the documentation in order to be reimbursed?

Thanks so much for any assistance!

At our facility when either procedure is done we ensure there is EtCO2 via NC in order to charge at least for that. Otherwise, there is nothing other that can be charged.
